Questions on Longest A Rated Life Insurers:
Should You Only Buy Life Insurance from A rated Life Insurers?
In general it is best to only consider A rated life insurance companies. On occasion A- rated insurers can be considered. However this is pretty rare. For any type of life insurance most people should be able to find a quality product with one of these A or higher companies. For those that are considering permanent life insurance the need to stay with the higher rated carriers is even greater.
Why Should I Care if my future life insurance company has had an A rating for sixty years?
For those that are considering purchasing a participating whole life insurance policy the amount of years that the carrier has been well rated is indicative of its history. Not that past performance is any proper measurement of future dividends or longevity, but it is a detail and an important one.
When is it justified to ignore a Life Insurer's Financial Strength Rating?
It is never a good idea to ignore a financial strength rating from any insurance company, life, health or otherwise. Financial Strength Ratings are one of the only tools that consumers have to check financial health of insurers.
I have heard that whole life insurance is a waste of money?
Whole life insurance is often derided as being a poor use of money and for the majority of American consumers it is certainly not the best product, often a simple term life insurance policy combined with savings will be the best consideration. That being said it is truly only a real waste of money if it is purchased and cancelled (without being used) within generally the first ten to fifteen years.
